I think for music, LimeWire is a good choise.

Limewire Pro is a good choice my fav. , just got rid of Ares today did n't like it . Trying Shareza right now for programs seems pretty good surprised it connects to so many different networks . :)

Emule is great for programs but too slow on the D/L for me had a heck of a time with my firewall also , had to change it . :(

Try using Ares. It does occasionally have problems connecting to a good 'node' but it also has a good community and selection. I have yet to receive anything bad from it too.
