Hey,

Ive used bittorent and newsgroups for a while...i dont ever download single songs anymore, i download the whole album..

The problem is that now I am looking for a few single tracks and I'm scared to go back to p2p programs like limewire and kazaa and such. Its also been a while sence ive used programs like that, because im scared of getting viruses.

Whats a good p2p program for mp3's? Something without fakes and such.

Thanks :)

Does it have a good network? any fakes?

I stoped using kazaa about 2 years ago cause of the fakes :(

My main worry is viruses, and all the shit that comes with p2p programs like limewire (or used to come with, its been a long time sence i used a p2p like program)

Shareaza gives you a nice all round multi-network option (ed2k, gnutella, and g2), and can also be used to download torrents..

I can't see why it would be bad for trojans

make sure to download lots of files that are named .mp3.exe i hear they are much better quality or something </joke>

you cant get viruses from media files since they dont actually execute anything. just make sure you get the latest version of wimamp to stop any buffer overflows and your safe as houses.

I dont know of any way of spotting fake files so i generally download a few copies until i find a decent one. then again i have only got one or two fakes off ares in about a year so its not that bad.

Ares or Shareaza in my experience.

i downlaoded limewire myself and installed, and immmediately on installation i was bombarded with trojan dialers etc..

I dont like slsk, cause you have to already have alot of music for people to let them download off you..

Slsk is plagued by its own problems and if you are running cable or broadband you need to get Blubster Lite, its mad fast for music and there are not many fakes. Just go to Nsane Productions.com >> p2p clients >> misc. [Dont use dl manager, save to disk normally]

If you want to use LimeWire and dont know a way of detecting fakes download Mp3 Shield. You can get it http://www.mp3shield.com.

I use Ares regular. In my experience it's been fairly reliable but it does sometimes have problems with long connection times and not enough peers.

I have yet to get a virus from it and I have yet to run into any fake files. Only thing close to a fake file was a radio-version. That could also be because on Ares it's fairly simple to tell if a file is real or not.

Wow, I never tried ares before. I was always a emule/shareaza user for single tracks. Ares is soo much better and faster.
