I used to be with these guys about 5-8 months ago, but they started having problems, that I'm sure a lot of you know about. I was thinking of resubscribing again and was wondering how they are now? I basically need unlimited access for not too much. I have my Comcast Giganews account for fills.

I really think NewsHosting is the best deal around for the money and very reliable also.

Usenetserver has the same problems as before. Their retention is horrible, <2 weeks and completion is always an issue. I'm considering going with a new usenet co probably digirock or newshosting as they seem decent and cheap.

Newshosting is phenomenal for the price. Although if you want the best, giganews has to be it, but your going to be paying for it. Last I checked I think they were $24.99 for unlimited.

*Edit, I promise I don't purposefully type teh instead of the.

Ok I just visited the usenetserver website to see this:

That completion is terrible. Why would they even advertise that?

They lost a disk array, again.
Completion is good retention about 20 21 days for bin but they are constantly having problems its like at least 2-3 times a month they have a disk go bad or network problems.

I have been with these guys for over a year and it has always had problems, after this last one I decided it wasn't worth my frustration or money any more. I have since canceled my account and am looking for a new news hosting server.

Any idea's?
I was hoping for one that did ssl tunneling without Usenet.com's price tag

What's NewsHosting like?

I'm using UsenetMonster which are really good, but they cost about £112 a year whereas NewsHosting will be about £60.

I've been sharing an account with reality for a few months now and never had a problem. Not sure how long the retention is but i've gotten things over 20 days old.:)

What's NewsHosting like?

I've been on NewsHosting for about a year now, never had any problems. I grabbed a DVDr the other day that was like 33 days old... There were a few incompletes but the pars repaired them... :D

I rape the hell out of my unlimited access, and I never get any complaints or even know newshosting is there until I get the monthly bill in my email.
They have never let me down. :D

I've touched around the 35 day mark as well for NZB's on NewsHosting. No incompletes, but NH are doing upgrades to 45 days  aren't they anyway?

So are they still having issues? It seems they have gotten a lot better if the stats on the home page are to be believed.

NewsHosting is probably the best.. For $15 per month you get unlimited access with 8 connections. Retention is 40 days too. You can see a list of newsgroups here: http://www.slyck.com/ng.php?page=2

Well sorry dudes but i plumped for giganews. 70 day retention. I spoke to a mate of mine who used them as well as eurofeeds.

He said he reccommended both of them, seeing as giga was cheaper i went for them!

Grabbing some great files too!

Newshosting is $14.95 a month for Unlimited whereas GigaNews is $25.00 a month as far as I know. Additionally NewsHosting goes down to around $12.50 a month if you pay yearly so wondering where you got the impression GigaNews was cheaper anyway...

Newshostings retention is up to 40 days one SOME groups. But groups with alot of DVDRs, don't expect anywhere close to that. It will be hit or miss once it you reach the 28-30 day area. You will need your pars. I never let anything get past 21 days or I know I may have issues. Had it happen a few times, unfortunately.
