I leech public trackers because frankly there's a greater risk of getting in legal trouble if you seed a lot on them. 0.5 (50%) ratio.

On private trackers on the other hand, I seed like crazy. ChristianTorrents ratio: 13.something. Oink ratio: 5.8ish. FileMp3 ratio: 3.something.

Well that depends, my upload is 200k/s and it going 24/7 so some torrents i seed for 10x and some just 1.2 It manly depends on the torrents. Some are impossible to seed wile other are easy. Single episodes of Tv shows are usualy impossible to get more than 3x up. Wile older season packs are easy to seed.

In the UK the download speeds are good but the up speed is crap. I can download 4GB in less than two hours on TB but have to seed for about 48hrs to get 1:1.
On 28 day private trackers I seed about 125% and on other private trackers 300%+. On public trackers its anything between 100 and 300%.

I wish I could seed as much as I want, but in Israel it's just impossible to seed beyond 50% of what you have downloaded. The maximum upload speed here is about 15KB\sec so If you want to seed and surf the internet you seed at about 7-11 KB\sec.

My average on most private trackers that I am a member of are between 1.12 to 3.40. I try to average around 200% on all my trackers, that way when I need to grab something big --like 10, 20, 40gb-- I can do it without worrying about being put on ratio watch or whatever.

The people I really feel for are the ones on trackers notoriously difficult to seed on (OiNK, for example), AND they have a crappy connection. I have enough work trying to seed with my leeware box... trying to upload a bit before the boys with the even faster box's jump on and start seeding at 10+MB/s to a some ridiculous ratio. :dry:

Personally once I get to 100% I check to see if there is much activity. If the torrent is still fairly active, like more than just a handful of seeds, I'll stop seeding. If there are few seeds and still some leechers I'll keep it up to about 200-300%.

Its not too hard to believe at all. I copy the files that I download to a separate directory and then leave the original files that were downloading seeding. Granted I only download on one bt site, so I dont worry about getting rid of the files afterwards unless they become unregistered with the tracker. I have some files that are seeded to 800%

I keep at least a 1 ratio on all of my private bt sites. While I don't have an incredible upload speed, I do take some steps to increase the speeds of leechers. Too many people have their "number of peers to connect to per torrent" waaaaaaaaaaaay too high for their upload speed. Uploading to 20 people at 1.0kb/s is a great way to improve ratio, but not health of the torrent. Uploading 4 people at 5.0kb/s will improve their download speed and limit the number of random IPs you're connected too.

On the subject of seeding, its easy for resident of the US or other European country. As for Australia our country internet connection that are hooked up to the rest of the world are really low quality, ISP over here are still offering limited download with a crappy up speed for a hefty price a month. Meaning in order for us to seed we have to leave our com on for longer period of time in order to seed the same amount or higher than of what we initially downloaded.

I seed about 150%-200%. If all would seed like under 200% it would be much easier to seed. Just think of you who seed over 500%. That only means that someone else will have their accounts disabled because of low ratio. I do not have problems with my seeding but I'm just thinking of these guys with a 1mbit upload. How would they make it if all others seed over 500%? Seeding over 100% means that some other person seeds under 100%. if you are blaming people cause they seed to little, think of yourself. You have probably done this yourself if you seeded over 100%.

I think people should seed to 1.5 and then let other people seed so it doesnt make it hard for the slower line users. A great example of this is Sct. It is hard to keep a ratio there because people over seed with their seed boxes

Why does every keep saying that it's hard to seed at ScT?!
I have a max of 50kb/s upload and I manage to keep a pretty healthy ratio there.

I think the only difference is that people with slower connections (like me) have to realized that in order to seed back 1:1 you have to let your PC on 24/7.

I leave my torrents seeding for weeks/months on every tracker.
This makes older stuff remain alive for others and improves your ratio ;)

I skimmed this up to page 11 my eyes are getting tired so I will try and make my point. Seeding to 500% is possible but on most private trackers you have bonus systems to assist with that ratio. And uploading a file or Helping seed a file that you have already download someplace else will increase your ratio.

So say someone downloads a file off one site and another site has same file. You can download the file from second site pointed to where the completed torrent is when it ask you where you wish the downloaded file to go and it will read that file and give you credit for downloading like 1-10mb usually around 1mb and if you seed back the full size of that file what would be 1.0 for normal user is 100.00 or more for the one who is "helping" to seed that file. So a share ratio is possible if you know how to do such things. (Not with standing seed boxes and being an uploader themself and a host of other options)

First of all I [b]always seed to 500%, because my computer is turned on and seeding 90%+ of the time. I use Azureus and I stop uploading at 500%.

Also, why state extremes situations no one's ever going to encounter? The largest files people download do not even come close to 60GB. So think before you choose a ludicrous number.

I have DSL 768K, which is perfectly capable of handling approx. 5 uploads at any given time with enough bandwidth conserved for other internet activities.

And I don't appreciate being called an idiot, so I must say that you are pitifully pathetic if you aren't capable to rationalize your insults and post more than one-word affronts.
