Does anyone know where i can get the source code for unix os , and the linux os , i just want to play around and see what i can do with them

linux is only the kernel the operating system uses many other tools from http://www.gnu.org/

It might also be good to have a look at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/ or http://www.freebsd.org/

I hope you have a good understanding of c and how operating systems work.

unix is not open source, solaris and the bsd's are all based on unix so i would give them a try instead.
