Linux Games?

im currently on 2000 but im wanting to switch to linux. I use my pc mainly for gaming so i wondered if theres any decent games for linux and which linux?
does lindows play windows games or any windows emulators?
p.s. my processor is an amd thingybob, ive heard you need a pentium

linux is for the more experienced user...Linux OS is basically for a good programer....not for the average person...
