Yeah, when you uninstalled your cracked version it might have left traces of the pirated CD Key in your registry. Also give us more infomation. When did it give a CD Key error? When installing? When playing? When connecting to a server?

What error? CD Key Error, or what does it say?

Try uninstalling and runing a registry cleaner or manually removing the registry entries. Then re-installing with your new brought disc and cd key.

now i got another problem though, it takes ages when it verifies client data then some times logs me off the server this is really annoying because it means i'm waiting another 20 mins to load it, ne idea why this is or how i can shorten the loading or verification time?

What are your PC specs?

The game requires a fairly hefty PC to run it decently, and even on my PC which is "high end" the verify client data takes at least 40-65 seconds sometimes. If it's taking 20 minutes, there may be an issue with your hardware or something along those lines.

Specifically, how much RAM do you have?

This might be a long shot but make sure that you have an upto date version of the game and punkbuster installed, you might be updating either version before the game starts or you could be getting booted by pbuster because one or the other is'nt upto date. Have you managed to get into any servers?

its all going a bit better now did a defrag and got nod32 instead of mcafee and it is working alot better i also updated my grpahics card driver and i'm currently waiting for 2gb of ram that is on its way to me its all working alot better and i'm getting onto the servers but loading time is still about 3-5mins. its definetly worth the wait though :).

got lots of help at total battlefield 2 forums, they seem to know what they are talking about.
