right click taskbar -> toolbars -> choose quick launch

Or do you mean the button that makes everything minimize to take you to the desktop is missing from the quick launch?

Found this on google:

It is fairly easy to restore the "Show Desktop" button that usually resides in the Quick Launch toolbar, if you have removed it.

Open notepad and paste the following:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save the file as "Show Desktop.scf" in C:\Documents and Settings\<YOURNAME>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch where YOURNAME is the username of the account that is missing the icon.

ummmm when I get to the part that says your name I go to my name but in that folder there is no such thing as application data, you sure the path is correct?

you have to have "show hidden files and folders" enabled. In windows explorer go to Tools > folder options > the view tab
