To the starter of this post. You are a prick.

If anyone doesn't understand that, then he is a knob, an arsehole, a dickhead and any other insult that anyone can think of. How can you possibly think that

http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?...IsYTLfKxxxxxxxx (http://galleries.vinyamar.com/ps/show.php?id=hZOVR30hj7nflIsYTLfKxxxxxxxx)

Making an avatar which is a parody of the death of over 5,000 people, in a terrorist attrocity is reasonable way to behave.

I am more than happy to give you crap about this, you moron.

I don't go this way very often but please fuck off.

yoda/the avatar man, i was going to do one like the one in the link but thought the same as you, a bit to risky, prob get flamed a lot and then eventually get told to take it off so i didnt bother.

ive started making them as well, but its realy hard to get the filesizes small enough and for ppl to see what is going on with a 64x64 image but im still learning so im sure i will get there eventually.

good work btw

Thanks, I'll send you 2 sig2dat's tomorrow, and let you know as well on what minute/second the scenes are that I like. :)

What program are you using to make them, by the way?
I played a little with Animation Shop 3.04, but didn't get far...

You are entitled to your opinion.
But I dont think It in anyway parodies, mocks, etc.
It is a historical event that is represented in my avatar.
By Comparison I feel that something like This (http://www.varkoume.com/texts/laden/togo_wtc_meeting.jpg) IS a parody and unacceptable

Which part don't you understand

Over 5,000 people died in a terrorist attrocity which so far has directly led to 2 wars.

People went to try to rescue others and lost their own lives in doing so.

Millions of people are still mourning these deaths.

i use ulead video studio to extract the clip i want from the video and then animation studio3, to make the animation from that video, its a lot easier doing it this way than playing the movie and printing screen for each frame, or even putting the whole video into animation shop as a 50meg vid has about 4000 frames so it can take a while for animation shop 3 to extract them and make them frames in an animation.

if there is an easier way than this i would love to hear it though, the easier the better is my motto.

there is a FAR easier way.
1.use virtual dub to reduce the frame rate(if needed),resize to 64x64 and crop your image then import that video into ulead gif animator and your basically done

stoi
04-18-2003, 01:29 AM
ive got ulead gif animator and virtual dub and must admit the way i do it was a lot easier than your way. its just the file size i cant work out but i will get around to that.

animation shop is a lot better than ulead gif animator, couldnt get away with that at all.

There was nothing in the link to suggest what the image may be. I therefore could make no judgement on it without looking.

I will respond in any way I chose, it is my opinion that this trivialises a national disaster for the people of the USA. I find that to be totally offensive.

That is not the same as viewing the original footage. What he has effectively done is made a cartoon, for the purposes of entertainment, of 5,000 people dying.

JmiF,

I'm sorry mate but I've seen at least 2 avatars/sigs with the WTC in them without anyone being flamed for them.

Do we stop showing videos of WW2 or Vietnam because it offends? I like to think that by seeing these attrocities then, just maybe, people will learn that these things are wrong.

Just my opinion.

Edit : Typo

I support everyone's right to express their opinion, including mine.

Viewing videos is not the same thing. The point was specious the first time it was made and remains so.

I fully agree with your point about remembering the attrocities. Santayana said those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it (paraphrase).

I, like you, am only expressing my opinion. I find the avatar totally offensive. You do not. At least we can both express ourselves without one describing the other as braindead.

with animation shop 3 you can use the wizard to import a *.avi file (i think it also works with *.mpeg)

and stay on the off topic (!?), if the mods think the link shouldn't be there they'll something about it

Like you implied it's the lounge mate. So no need to stay on the off topic, unless we feel like it.

Scene: A cafe. One table is occupied by a group of Vikings with horned
helmets on. A man and his wife enter.

Man (Eric Idle): You sit here, dear.
Wife (Graham Chapman in drag): All right.
Man (to Waitress): Morning!
Waitress (Terry Jones, in drag as a bit of a rat-bag): Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam;
egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage
and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam
bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings (starting to chant): Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked
beans spam spam spam...
Vikings (singing): Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a
Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with
truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam (crescendo through next few lines)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!)
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon
spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife (shrieks): I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it.
I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam
spam and spam!
Vikings (singing): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and
the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings (singing elaborately): Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful
spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam!
Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam
spam spam!

Nice Job Avatar Man :P . I particularly liked those skele's, they were amusing...
And btw, the avatar of the fluke carparking by the white car, is it off the show "Who Am I" starring Jackie Chan. It rings a bell, just can't get the whole picture tho ;) .

The guy falling of the building was pretty sick, didn't enjoy that one at all. Was wondering where you got all your videos from...?

just use virtualdub to chop it.
use the directstreamcopy option so you dont have to compress it.(direct stream copy has to begin at a keyframe so just begin at the keyframe before the part you want starts then just remove the extra frames manually ;) )

@Jmif: I am also sensitive about 9-11, and i don't fully approve of the avatar. but i'm not going to tell him to take it down.

But get your facts straight. approximatley 3,000 people died. thats a lot less than 5,000.

Really good. Well done that man.

I remember watching the game live and being stunned.

Sir Alex (the hun) stuck by him and he came back to reinforce his position as one of your all time greats.

To MasterYodaX or whoever the :swear: you are ...

You are a sadistic tosser. Do you realise how many people were killed by the events that occured on September 11? And, huh? You think it's funny? Man, how would you feel if you were happliy working until some afghanny talibanny drove a plane into a building causing it to be destroyed, killing thousands of people?

Personally, you ought to disgusted by yourself ... Why don't you apply for the Alquaeda right now? You obviously have what it takes to join, a sick mind

So mods, ban this idiot, YodaX here has some travelling to do to Afghanistan ...

What's the difference between that and all this?:

Nick Ut- Napalm girl

http://www.transom.org/talk/photos/200108.ut.napalm.jpg

Nan Goldin- Abused

http://www.widemedia.com/fashionuk/news/2001/03/28/camera.jpg

David 'chim' Seymour- After the war

http://www.forum-photography.com/chim.JPG

These are all pictures that show or imply a disaster, personal or national. The first picture by Nick Ut even won several prizes because of it's 'esthetic value'. Why can't you show the 9/11 disaster then?
Because it's too fresh? The Napalm Girl-pic was published the day after it was taken
Because it's American? I believe American media work with a free press model

It's history, it might be art...No need to hide it. :)
