Advanced Micro Devices has beat Intel in US retail sales in October. recent report finds that AMD chips overtook Intel's in PC U.S. retail sales in October. The sales of PCs equipped with chips from Advanced Micro Devices beat those of PCs based on Intel chips in retail stores across the United States.

The research firm that released the report, Current Analysis, found that 49.8 percent of the desktop and notebook computers sold in the U.S. retail market used AMD processors, compared to Intel’s 48.5 percent slice of the retail market. The study does not include direct sales, however, which is the model used by Dell, the No. 1 computer maker in the U.S. Dell PCs only use Intel processors.

not quite so funny, as they are out to make money
they are simply following a market trend, not really trying to make a better PC
(you wold think they would go a little further and actually install the chips, but....)

on a side note...
I just had to do some work on my cousin's Dell, and let me tell you this...
everything I ever heard about em is true...I fucking hate em
I tried to clean about 2500, no typo, two thousand five hundred infected files off her pc
(AV found 1200, Adaware found another 1300)
had to format it was just too fucked up,
and then tried to go through Dell's site for drivers.....oh man, never again
next time (and there prolly WILL be a next time, she's blond :P )
I think I'll tell her to scrap the Dell and just build a fuckin PC
