Thought for the day:

If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq Theater of operations during the last 22 months, that gives a firearm
death rate of 60 per 100,000. The rate in Washington D.C. is 80.6 per 100,000.

That means that you are 25% more likely to be shot and killed in the United State's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington, D.C

Funny stuff?

Gun control doesn't work in DC 'cause all it does is stop law-biding citizens from getting a legal firearm like in the states.

it's kinda like saying "something isn't the same in london as it is in england". it makes no sense. the correct way would be "something isn't the same in london as it is in the rest of england"

It's in the country, but it's not a state itself. It doesn't reside in any one state either.

Thank you.;)

It seems people are letting a popular phrasing for America get in the way of logic.....or as I said....they didn't know it wasn't a state with no representation (no vote) in Congress 'cept figurehead lady, Eleanor Holmes Norton.

It's not a state.
It's not in a state....unless it's confusion and mayhem.

I never said it was a state.

I know DC isn't a state but it's in the States. As in the United States of America.

Need I remind you that you said:
Gun control doesn't work in DC 'cause all it does is stop law-biding citizens from getting a legal firearm like in the states. In that quote, it seems to me that you refer to DC as not being "part of" the States.

If you cannot understand this simple concept then it's a lost cause to explain further.

When if you knew.....

it wasn't a state

and

I actually live in the area

it should have been possible for a smart fella like yerself to figure out that uh.....I'm actually referring the states...as it's written....simply because...

it wasn't a state

and

I actually live in the area

(and didn't capitalize it like you did)

Busy, your English was imprecise.

VB1234 picked you up on it, had you been more exact with your terminology, this misunderstanding wouldn't have occurred.

Please, bear this in mind for future posts. Thanks.

I get that he was acting like he didn't understand or was simply ignorant.

However, the English was fine as written and was very precise (this time). Mmk?

Thanks for stopping in. Mmmbyebye.

O RRRY!!! :shuriken:

The sentence sure was fine as written yet you were dumbassfounded.

If States wasn't capitalized, where was the reference to The United States Of America?

Fact is, a smart person should have gleaned what was being conveyed especially when all you had to do was take it as written. :1eye:
