I usually work 1 weekend shift per month and I had it set in my mind that was Sunday 2:00-10:00.

I have my beer, I have my movie and I was talking to a friend about what he was up to tonight. I mentioned that I was working tomorrow evening and he said, "Odd, Ken said he was working then."

O RLY, I said.

Good news, I'm not working this Sunday after all. Wahoo!

Bads news, I due at work in 20 minutes. Hell, my mindset is so totally not interested in work. Time to grab some coffee and get my gameface on.

Wouldn't have really mattered had I not checked the schedule, someone would have called looking for me, but good thing it's a little early for the drink.

Screw you guys and your "I have Saturday off" attitudes.:frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

Pshaw, hobbes.
I work every Saturday from 10-6.

Then again, I could drink at work if I felt like it.
None of my customers would know the difference....

Well, I didn't work today, but I wasn't off, either.

A day at home is just another work day, but without any deadlines or clocks.

There where of things IS important, though.

The noises one can conjure as background are much more pleasant around the house.

Do you normally shift around, Hobbes?

What on Earth does that mean.

I tried to use the context to interpret it, but I couldn't understand that either.

Are you the Lord of Surreal, at all.

Starting a sentence with a conjunction is really rather poor form. However you are American, so why would one expect better.

"As do I" may be a better option, however who am I to quibble.

Thanks goodness I've only worked one Saturday since I've been a technician.

Other techs like to work weekends 'cause of the light load so when I get it on my schedule I'm able to trade it away.

Hell I was scheduled last Saturday but traded.:D

I do wish I was scheduled for Thanksgiving or the day after. Both are holidays for us and holiday pay is double time and a half.:01:

Holiday work and working past 49 hours in a week (which is double time) is why technicians easily hit $100,000+ a year....especially if you are a cable technician.

Make that paper.;)

I'd have posted as you prefer had I been capable of immediate response, but posted as I did due to the slight time lag.

I note manker has largely given up his parsing crown; did you pay him for it at all, at all.

No.

We do un-armed perimeter/plant security/surveillance, administer several fire supression systems, monitor/log traffic at several gates, and serve as a clearing house for a very wide variety of information.

We do perform many specialized tasks tailored to requirements specific to our plant.

We supplement and facilitate, one way or another, every process taking place on-site.

We oil the gears, tie the loose ends, uncross wires, and any number of other chores as arbitrarily defined by yours truly.

We do not vacuum or do windows.;)

It's a small, small business, looking to grow.

I pissed him off and he wouldn't re-hire me, but that's another story.

Nowadays, I've expanded my repertoire to include rodding. The huge demand on my forum schedule that this entails only leaves me enought time to correct folk who slightly irritate me :dabs:

Start by finding if any BPB plants in your area are soon to be flying the flag of Saint Gobains.

That's a start.

The plant I work is the only one in the states where "security" is other than a gate-keeping entity; I'm more service-oriented.

There are myriad difficulties to expansion.

Btw, I've had chance to think about your orange comment.
