I was wondering abt partitioning my hard drive. Will this save me a lot of memory. I will use partition magic prob. Has anyone done this? Please tell me what it will involve and benefits v disadvantages. Is it worth it?
I am running windows xp with 19GB of memory. I really want more memory cos thats crap! <_<

well you need a new hard drive with more space.
partitioning wont give you more space, it justs
divides the space you have(19gb) into sections.
and as far as advant/disadvant it depends on who you ask
i dont like partitioning. i have a 20gb harddrive that i only have
windows installed on and only use it for windows and some software.
i then have a second harddrive that is 80 gb. that is where i store
files and what not. thats what i suggest rather than partitioning.

partiction magic is a breeze to use as you can set it up in using windows...the advantage of partiction is that if you ever format c:\ you will never loose any files on a d:\ or any other drive.

the only prob is that partiction magic takes a very long time to partiction(when you restart that is when it will move and partiction your drive).

i used it after i loaded win98 se and i think it took 30-45 mins to format my 40 gig drive no other files at the time, the more files you have the longer it will take.

as sred said it wont speed up or give you more room.
