A joy stick for BF2?? WTF? For flying the planes?
Anyways, check this (http://www.bf2.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5274) thread out.
Also check this (http://intel.planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/bf2/joystick.html) thread out for the joystick setup in BF2 controls.
Hope this helps. :)
Edit: Ok the more I think about it, the more I wan't a joystick for myself.

nah, you could play FPS games very well (and comfortably) with a joystick/gamepad in one hand and mouse in the other. the keyboard is unnecessary. personally i find that a good gamepad makes running & strafing (especially circle-strafing) much smoother and easier in fast Quake-type games. you just need to have plenty of buttons on each, so that you can do everything you'd normally do with a keyboard. besides chatting. you still need a keyboard or microphone for chatting.
the real problem with the gamepad control-schemes for FPS-ers on consoles is how poor the second analogue stick is as a mouse-replacement.

Yeah probibly... unless you broke it, or threw away the receipt, or something along those lines... they should take it back. Not 100% sure though...
