Can anyone tell me what the chemical symbol Fe means. I think it's an element, but I'm not sure.
It's to help someone with homework and I didn't do Chemistry at school (probably would have forgoten by now anyway).

I did Chemistary at school, and do you know what. I've completely forgotten :dabs:
I think its short for ferrite, ie iron

it means FeCkula - which is found on the second layer of an ionic compound :blink:

So if an experiment required you to use an electrode composed of Fe, then in simple terms they would be asking you to use a rod of iron.

manrod used the phrase "rod of iron" in another thread and the rest, as they say, is geography.
