USB memory stick wont show up

hey everyone,

i have a problem with my (256 MiB mp3 player style) memory stick, sometimes (last time more and more often) when i plug it in to my computer, it does nothing....... like it isnt plugged in at all........ if i turn the memory stick on, and plug it in, it does turn itself of, as it should, but it doesnt show up on the computer (running XP)

i have tried this on several computers, but it just doesnt work. why is this?

reboot in safe mode with the drive plugged in, go into the device manager, find it and remove. unhook the drive and reboot into normal windows. then hook the drive back up. iwindows should reinstall it and hopefully it will work correctly for you then

Hot swapping might not work. You might try rebooting with device attached.
