Maxmem, Any Good?

I had a programme called "Maxmem" on my old PC, It's supposed to free up memory, & make your machine run faster.
Does any body know weather it actually works?
I know you can't always go by the feedback on downloads.com, as mamy of them are biased :huh:

I saw something on techtv about these programs if you look around their site you may be able to find the article :)
well anyway it pretty much said that they would help on older operating systems but not really on xp or mac os x because they already do a good job at this.
