I ran across these sites and thought they may be of use. I have not tried any so do not know how good they are, but if you need them they are worth a look.

Let me know if they come in handy. I am using GigaNews so have no real need, but I know others are looking so good luck :)

Should have added this...

If you find any good servers, post here so others don't need to try 'em all :)

Thanks for that, I must have a look at those.

I use NTL's free service just now and there are a lot of groups missing.

You have to pay a one-time setup fee though.
Think it's about $5.
Tried them when i first started with newsgroups.

edit:
Just checked my account there:

$3.95 one time setup/no monthly fees - 50 megabytes per day

Well its shite really as at one time I seem to remember using them before the fee but it was very slow.
The current 50mb isnt worth much anyway unless you have very little use like fills...

What about software...
Most 0day is only 10mb or below, unless it is an ISO.

There is no limit for uploading though.

I have it and it's horrible, 0 retension and a lot of posts don't even make it. My ISP provider has a terrible retension of 3 days but it's better than tera.
If they upgrade their retension it would be worth the $4, or if you use it for posting only.

Not to be a ninny or anything, but since this doesn't even follow the topic, I suppose I 'ought to say this...

Well for Text groups news.readfreenews.net is ok. Don't think it allows posting though. For binaries, there's very little in the way of free servers, apart from the odd test server that pops up now and again.

This part may have something to do with it.

oh god, excuse me. :blushing:

I clciked the link and somehow ended up at the root rather than the usenet sub URL... It didn't seem to follow the thread at all... Sorry, my mistake. :(
