on the bench. Does anyone else do that.I have a soft spot for the clubs Ex-United players manage. For instance, I was particularly pleased that the Baggies stayed up last May.

Perversely, I want the ex-players' new club to be pish - but the player to stand out like a veritable beacon.

I make the exception with Barca and the magnificent 7, but you knew that already.

Sparky is the only exception I can think of - again, Barca. Naturellement, I was only a spermatozoa at the time but I remember wanting them to win La Liga and Hughes to be better than Lineker.

Peter Grant was a rabid Tim, one of the chaps who had made good and joined the team. He was like an unrestrained Neil Lennon.

I remember watching Sparky going back to Barca and scoring a top goal on the way to the Cup Winners cup or some such. It's one of those stick in your mind, emotional sort of gigs.
