If you don't know your internet connection, go to http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1 and pick the location nearest to you. ;)

He has a 10Mbps pipe - it says so in the properties box if you enlarge it!

This has a max (unachievable) of 1.25 Mbps - guestimate would be up to around 1 Meg if there are sufficient seeds/leeches in the swarm to service this sort of speed. Never seen such speeds - from memory the best I've seen is approx 500kBps.

Actual speed is dependent on all sorts of criteria.

Go to the stickies for more info.

i think that if he have a 1 Mbps he should be up to 200 Kbps, no more than that

he should get around 400-700 KB/s from that site with so many seeders and so little leechers! less than at least 350KB/s means that something is wrong!

Its a 10Mb cable for christ sake!

Look @ that. And I got 3mbps DSL.

Only way to tell how fast your connection is, is doing a speed test.

Thats just the max speed at which that particulat network connection can transfer data not the speed of the connection it access.

We're getting our big Ks and little ks mixed up here. Your physical download is measured in kilobits not Kilobytes so you have to divide the speed of your connection by 8 to arrive at the speed your client reports. I have 2200Ks download and 256 Ks up giving me a max of 275ks down (never seen but have recorded 225) and 32 up (can get there but 29-30 is normal)

Those ain't the stats of a 10meg pipe, did you have a d/l running when you did that test? If so, shut down all other internet activity and then run a speed test and post the results on here.;)

At the time there was no internet activity at all. I uninstalled McAfee Firewall+McAfee security center and restarted.

Now I'm getting
2006-01-01 18:48:16 EST: 951 / 99
Your download speed : 951 kbps or 118.9 KB/sec.
Your upload speed : 99 kbps or 12.4 KB/sec. :shifty:

Yep, much better, looks like mcafee was choking your connection, try kaspersky personal(not pro) a/v and zonealarm(basic free version) for your firewall(that's what I'm running and it works perfectly), see how that goes and let us know.;)
