I only have 128MB RAM memory and have asked a couple of places what the minimum amount is needed to run a DVD burner and the general theme seems to be 512MG RAM is the best way to go. Anyone agree or disagree or have any thoughts on what works for them? Thanks for the help!

Just burning data to a DVD doesn't require more than 128 MB.

Manipulating video or compressing it may require more.

What's your full system specs?

Just burning data to a DVD doesn't require more than 128 MB. Although that's technically correct, progs like Nero require large amounts of memory (about 50MB) for buffer space if they are to run at all efficiently.

128MB is the minimum required to operate XP. That in itself does not allow any space at all for running programs. I'd recommend at least 256MB.

From Nero manual:

That means that XP only needs 64MB when Nero is installed.
Great news, I wonder if anyone has told Microsoft.

I have successfully burned DVDs on:

PIII 450 MHz with 128 MB PC133 RAM.
Running Windows XP and Nero 6.
LG burner @ 4X speed.

No problems.

As i said i have 128 MG RAM memory, and i have intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU and one 20GB hard drive and another 80GB hard drive. And i run windows ME. I was told at a computer shop i need 1 GB RAM, but i've asked around on a couple of forums and the general theme seems to be that 128MG RAM isnt really enough, but you could get away with 256MG RAM and 512MG RAM would do the job well. Is this what you think?

i think all the memory in the world wont solve the fact that you're running ME :P

get 98SE or if you're willing to spend some cash, get extra memory and 2000/XP
you definitly DONT need 1 GiB of RAM to burn a DVD.........
