Toshiba at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas has unveiled the first group of high definition DVD players and computers using the HD DVD standard.

The company will start shipping its HD-XA1 and HD-A1 players in the US in March this year. They will be selling at $799 and $499 respectively.

The premium model offers a high end look as well as USB connectors to connect gaming peripherals. Both models support high definition (720p) and 1080i (ultra HD) screen resolutions, internet connectivity and high quality sound.

The vendor also unveiled a model of its Qosmio line of laptop computers equipped with a HD DVD drive, but didn't provide a projected shipping date or retail pricing.

Oh see what you mean about the pic , sorry about that . Why does this remind me of the old Sony Beta , I think I still have somewhere in the garage . I'm the type that when I finaly make the purchase something new will be out . :(

Guess Toshiba , wants to be the first on the market with Sony and the Blue Ray not far behind .
