cool way to spend a cool grand, I want one :w00t:
no...wait...I'm waiting for the quad core Opteron...next year...meh.
here's what the Enquirer has to say:
Athlon 64 FX-60 marks the end of single-core CPU's, and finally puts the last nail into the coffin of single-threading. The product will be clocked at 2.6 GHz and it will actually get beaten in some 3D tests by its predecessor, 2.8 GHz clocked FX-57.

ummm....they're not saying the FX-60 is single core,
they're saying it's marking the end of....
The new FX-60 has two cores joined at hip, with a modified memory controller to fit the bill.
:P
or...what were you trying to say?

Well, it's clocked the same as a fx-55, so it's a fx-55 dual-core i guess.
It's probably worth the investment in the future, but now, the fx-57 is still 0.2ghz faster than the fx-60 dual core, and this 0.2 ghz showed up in the gaming benchmarks.
Damnatory

indeed...they would make more money selling it cheaper, because more people could afford it. $500 would definately make more money in the total outcome.

not true.
the prices are what they are for a reason
it costs money to bring these products to the shelves
they don't just set the price to whatever they feel

Is that because of all the ice cream you owe me?
I will forego a quart or two if that will help.
