I've got a Mentor v.92 56k Internal Fax/Data modem.
The problem is that under heavy use (e.g. when playing a game or burning a disc), the modem disconnects itself.
i thought this problem might be associated with a lack of cpu power, but i have an athlon 2700+
when i had my old p4 1.6GHz cpu i never had any problems.
has anybody else had the same problem?
all i can say is make sure your drivers are updated, and also check through the settings to make sure it isnt set to disconnect after a certain time of inactivity

i got the updated drivers for it a couple of weeks ago. not reinstalled after my format, but they didn't make a difference last time either.
it's set up never to disconnect
i think it may just be a faulty modem, i'm gonna take it back to the shop where i got it, they should replace it, i hope
edit: spelling again
oh well, the only other tip i got is, broadband B)

lol, i think that would solve the problem :P
it's not available in my area though, so there's not a lot i can do.
i just need to wait till enough people put in an interest before bt moves it in
thanks for the advice though

It might be the fact that when you run cpu intensive stuff your modem cannot communicate and your isp drops the line after a certain time.
winmodems require plenty of cpu time. damn cheap modems.
Internal modems use a lot of system resources, buy an external, they use there own.
