Safe to install xp on virtual pc?

i donwloaded that MS virtual pc and i have an xp iso. Just experementing becuase i never installed it before and would it be safe to do.

Like if i make a partion in virtual will it affect the phycical (not planning just asking)

virtual pc uses virtual drives, it creates a file on your drive that it uses as a HDD, so it doesnt affect your drive other than taking up space.
