Another unrealistic video benchmark that will bring my (used to be top end) 6800GT to it's knees and make me lust after a (completely unnecessary) 7800 GT.

a 7800gt isn't really that great of a card either.
sure it is. a lot better performance with less power consumption.

also, way to early for a new benchmark. um, 01,03,05... 07? or 08? hell, 05 still kicks my pc's ass. meh, hopefully this "06" will be a better benchmark than 05. 05 was terrible! maybe that's why there is such an early release...

lol cheese, you can't really upgraded much more as of now with that card...oh unless you're getting the nvidia 7800 quad:O

whew, the cpu test killed my pc. idled @ 0fps. lol. this benchmark was a little better than 05's. actually, this benchmark should be called 05+. cuz it's basically a newer version of 05. anyway, the shader model tests are great! the one flaw is that they forgot to throw in sound tests like in 03. thought that was great. 1 sound test with multiple mhz bouncing around woulda been great. hrmm, next time maybe... i'm using beta drivers and seeing how this just came out i'm sure driver fixes are in the workz for better performance. meh.

I thought the cpu test was supposed to bring your machine down to a crawl. Mine managed 1 fps at most.

I scored 4027, I'll get some screenshots later.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You want me to do other benchmark tests with the 1800XT and a different CPU?:unsure:

what was ur last rig? i'm asking if maybe u used the same video card, but a different cpu. i just wanted to know if a x2 does much more for benches. as of now no games use x2's power 'cept hl2 and fear. and even then i hear there are probs...

I see what you mean now. I did a compare on the 3DMark06 site with a single core running at the same speed and the difference seems to be about 400-500 points.

ok, cool. lol, not sure if i worded what i was wanting to know properly or not. but u answered my question. yeah, so (at least not in benches) the x2 doesn't do to much more for you. it's all that video card of urs. nice ram in ur current rig. 2gb + 512mb vid. games sure do play nicely...?

Yeah, I haven't been overly impressed wih the cpu. My last one was an AMD 64 3400+ and it doesn't seem like that much of a step up. The main reason I've splashed out on the graphics card is for when Elder Scrolls 4 comes out, I want to play that game at full settings.

Otherwise you are only using one core most of the time, so you are effectively running an expensive 3500+.
