Show pictures or share stories about where you were in 1979.
I was twenty and just finished nursingschool and started working in a
psychiatric postcare facility in the city where i lived. I remeber i loved the
fact i didn't have to wear a white uniform anymore.
I remember listening to jazzrock with my mates and visiting heaps of concerts.

The conservatives won the elections in the UK and Margaret Thatcher
became prime-minister.

The shah flee from Iran and Iran became an Islamic state.

That year i went on holiday to Montmedy, an old city in the north of France,

where we worked on the restoration of the Citadelle (Citywall) in exchange
for food and shelter. We slept and lived in the Pigeoniere, a really big pigeon-
house.
Celebrating the 14 of July with the locals was one of the highlights.

In december Russia invades Afghanistan.
In august the first British nudist beach is established in Brighton.

The house where i rented an apartment burned down in september,
after the owner of the surfstore under the apartments had set fire to his
store.
I lost everything exept for some photo's of my youth.......:cry:
(though the insurance pay out was really nice....:) )
Happily my two cats were outside when it happened.
And the short fling i had with the female police officer who helped us out
after the fire was really nice!!! :naughty:

In november In Greensboro, North Carolina, five members of the Communist
Workers Party are shot to death and seven are wounded by a group of
Klansmen and neo-Nazis during a "Death to the Klan" rally.
In Juli the Marxist Sandinistas take control of Nicaragua.
The Deer Hunter gets the oscar that year.

My fav TV-shows of that year were a.o. Soap, All in the family, Fawlty

My club Ajax did the double(championship and national cup) that year.
And with the team i played in we became champion of the 4th class KNVB,
wich was never matched after that year.
(The club's owner payed us 50 guilders after a win, wich wasn't allowed,
as we were amateurs.....In 91 the club was put back 4 divisions after they
found out......)
