hey, guys

I just today, found a program called Netlimiter which will let you set xx bandwidth for
any application, I tried it with Kazaa and it worked, finally I can set a limit on how
much kazaa can use, heres the url, let me know if you find it useful!

http://www.netlimiter.com/

thanks

dont get this prog if your on XP and 56k. It royally fucked up my whole internet connection. Its XTREMELY buggy and god knows how much adware is on it

04-22-2003, 03:33 AM
Hmm... so does the adware go away w/ the addition of a serial number? I would try it, but I'm not willing to fill my comp w/ adware or screw w/ my connection. I'm running win98SE and winXP Home and have a DSL connection.

there is no adware, just the message which says you are on xx day of the eval...etc (but is that considered as an adware?) It works great for me, not had any problems yet.

if you really need something, this should work...simply cuz it screwed up someone elses computer, dnt think it would your 2.

Lamsey

Works fine for Weemouse and myself...

Must get that serial... Hi, N£mo...

it also messed two of my friends computers up also. Its real buggy :o

am I reading this post correctly? why in gods name would you want to LIMIT your download bandwith? wouldn't that make your D/L slower?

fook_mi
04-23-2003, 07:30 AM
What is the point with all tht? why do you want to limit your downloads?
thats sad, just let it go the speed it wants to because it will do any ways

Have decided to try it ,as pointed a few of you in the serial number direction, and i got to say that it works fine for me.56k'er using XP.

Why not read a topic in full before you post dumb questions?

@fook_mi, be_man31

 It`s nothing of sad! It`s a very good and useful program and this tool is really needed if your comp is on high speed SDSL and you are professionally engaged in some other tasks in the net too.

I`m glad to contribute and offer some of my bandwith to Kazaa for free ( I`m a SN 24/7 too...) but everyone will understand that there are some other things too to manage.

 May I ask, what your personal bandwidth contribution is for Kazaa, except sharing files?

Josh_Shark

It works great thanks

@ MaxAndig> hey don't involve me in fook_mi's post! all I was asking is why would you want to limit your downloads, I mean I see a ton of post on how to speed up your downloads becuase the D/l'ds are so sloooow. but I know you can limit your UPLOADS in K++ in the advance tab. which should help when you want to surf and download movies at the same time, not taking all your bandwith. :P

TuCool4u
04-23-2003, 10:14 PM
the reason I want to limit is, wen using kazaa sometimes it takes up all the bandwidth and browsing becomes very slow! also i use ftp etc so since kazaa takes all the bandwidth it slows the ftp download down...this way when kazaa finds more sources for download it wont go over the limit...

Muse
04-24-2003, 02:20 PM
But you can limit your upload bandwith using the advanced options or the configuration tool.

Why use this tool for kazaa?

MaxAndig
04-24-2003, 03:18 PM
@be_man31

 You got me wrong.

The problem is not limiting the uploads only.

The downloads must be limited too. Otherwise you cannot limit/control/manage your bandwith. Technically speaking: In TCP the downloads depend on the upload bandwith aswell.

You will not get fast uploads if you limit (e. g. unwillingly) the speed of your ACK packets. You will see this effect in practice yourself as soon as you are receiving a high quality audio or video stream and at the same time Kazaa tries to "steal" and graps most of your bandwidth - as you get some more users you are downloading from.

 Kazaa does not allow limiting of your download bandwidth.

:D Hope that clears things up and shows why professional bandwith limiting is a must.

if you have win xp don't use this program !!!

its still working great for me 4 days now.....and ive tried dloading a tv ep from bittorrent with it as well and for once i am able to get it in under 6 days cause ive restricted the upload speed to 2k so looks like ill have the file in under 40hrs ..with netlimiter bittorrent looks like a better program than kazaa for brand new files but kazaa still works best for older files..
oh all on 56k too...cant think of a better tip to date...good job

Limiting your download bandwidth leaves some bandwidth for surfing the 'net and checking email, etc.

Ever noticed that the board's kinda slow with KaZaA up?

If you only allow KaZaA to use 80% of your bandwidth, your downloads aren't affected too much but surfing becomes a lot faster.

randm01

8 days still working perfect......and ive convinced 2 xp users to try it and 1 had problems with the previous version but with 91b3 it seems to have fixed the problems he had..the other xp user has found no problems yet either..god dam its good..

Limiting your bandwidth is a great idea. It is how emule does it, rather than slot notation. Rather than have 10 slots get filled by 56kers, i can say i want to use 100 KB/s. So now i can open up all the slots, not have to worry about my computer slowing down, and everyone is happy. Its the way to go. Its the main reason i don't stay on kazaa and prefer emule. I can share more this way.

I wonder if somebody can make a program for kazaa or within kazaa to control your download speed, like this netlimiter but only for kazaa, then we can have enough for uploading and downloading. I know this already maybe came up somewhere on the forum but i just wonder if somebody can make an addon or someting within kazaa...

Works fine for on XP. Feel a bit guilty limiting bittorrent uploads though it has improved downloads by 50%. Every day I start the program it still says day 1 of trial.

works perfect on xp pro for 4 days now...he is very happy with it improving the dload speed on bittorrent....and it also allows his brother to play internet games at the sametime when without netlimiter his brother wasnt able to play internet games..talk about the perfect program...

Its relatively easy to limit your download and upload bandwidth for k-lite using the registry,if you know how.

Despite of all the warnings I have given it a shot.

Man! One great prog. Nice way to limit your upload a bit when using DC++. Improves your surfing speed. ;)

But not that good that I am going to pay for it.

Anyone for a serial? (PM)

I will give you the crack if you give me some help ,ok ?i just download a movie its an eso file,mp43 do you have any ideea how can i play this movie?

Muse
05-05-2003, 02:36 PM
Eso file? Shouldn't that be ISO?

If it's ISO you have to burn this image on a cd using the corresponding CUE file.

sharedholder
05-05-2003, 03:05 PM
no ,its write eso file, and when i try to play the file shown mp43 error or something like this.Put your e-mail i will send you the crack

why cant something like this be added to kazaa lite ? or at least some something made for only kazaa, like within kazaa like rocko's addon? I find this a useful program. can anybody make this or part of kazaa?

it doesnt boost your speeds, it balances your speeds on uploading and downloading.

amphoteric88
05-09-2003, 02:57 AM
as to editing the reg entries, you have to edit the values for "in" and "out" bandwidth in the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Kazaa>Bandwidth" section
change the values in decimal format to whatever you want to limit to in kilobits per sec.
i haven't tried this myself, but it should work
don't blame me if it stops from working :D

lunatacs
05-09-2003, 03:12 AM
why not tell this paul and he might make a program so we can switch to any limit we want?

amphoteric88
05-09-2003, 07:43 AM
i'm sure that paul and some important people already know about this
however, it's hardly worth inventing another program for
changing reg entries is simple, only takes a minute or two
