I have version 7.1.375 and its keeps saying that my internal virus data base is out of date.
So I keep running the update and it keeps saying it has no new downloads.
Yet is says I'm out of date in the control panel and that a new data base was released 33 days ago to update now.
I tried to manualy update but its a bin and it doesnt know what to do with it once I download it.
(nor do I)
Any help would be appriciated...Please :frusty:

I was just told by someone to unistall AVG and to install this prog
www.nod32.com
It finds viruses that aren't even in it's database yet. It uses practically none of your system resources and is a small install.

Anyone try it or no if its any good?

It's the best ime, NOD32 that is. Be sure to use this guide to set it up.
Without these settings NOD is only at 70% effectiveness.

Thanks, b4 I start the installation should I uninstall AVG first? I also heard that AVG writes alot of stuff to the registry and that could cause a conflict with Nod, is this true?

Haven't used AVG in about ~3yrs. Some AVs play nice. First after downloading NOD32. Disconnect from internet. Important disconnect from internet. Then using add/remove uninstall AVG. If this cause problems at first, like it won't let you uninstall at all. First disable AVG from the Taskbar then uninstall, you know right click disable or exit whatever it says. Then reboot. Still disconnected from internet. Install NOD32. Get on internet update NOD32. Go to link at Wilders & properly setup NOD32. Then run full scan.

It's hard to setup vs AVG. Look at that wilders guide & tell me how you feel about that. If you understand that page or are willing to learn. You'll probably like NOD32. If you install the trial & like it. Then you'll have to download a retail/commercial version. First visit that page & see 4 yourself.

If I were to pay for an antivirus product, it would be NOD32.
I don't use it though, as it's a little work to keep it running effectively for free, whereas KAV regfiles turn up all the time.

You could always go to the AVG website and manually download the most current definitions file.
(right click the update manager>properties, untick the "do not ask for update source option")

I've found times where the update feature of the proggy didn't work and a manual install was necessary.
