So how fast have you driven in a ground vehicle?

I had a ride in my dad's car, and he did like 180km/h on a country highway with no one around. I think I pissed my pants afterwards.

Yes ago when I was a child. I was riding in the fanciest auto I'd ever been in. An old Bentley. My friends dad was driving. He asked me how fast I thought we were driving. As there was no traffic. I had to guess by the ride quality. I said around 70mph. He said take a look at the speedometer. It said around 107mph. Wow smooth ride.

I was driving the other day with my permit, and i was driving my cousins car while he was in the passenger seat. He told me to hit 150 i was like are you joking me? So we went to this deserted road he knows that leads to a warehouse and thats all, so noone goes that way at night. So I hit 140 but thats all then hes like okay stop cuz the engine was not sounding good.

Not many cars go over 120mph. I don't care what the speedometer says.

Btw probably won't be doing that no more after i crashed recently @ 100kmh (62.14 mph) and saw (and still feeling) the damage, don't wanna try to imagine what it looks like at speeds over 200 kmh

Around 100mph in my '95 Daewoo Nexia 1.5 SOHC (!) up the M1 on the way to Mecca (Elland Road to the heathens).
About 120mph in a hired Pug 306 on the way to Mini-Hollywood in Spain.

strange comment cause there are places that allows you to drive as fast as you like, for instance most of the german Autobahn  .
So what is your definition of speeding? Driving faster as allowed or just fast driving?
If you drive fast in a car that's built for it it is pretty safe so not stupid and if it's allowed in the place your at it's not even wrong...:schnauz:

On the way home yesterday, I went 125mph (492kph). My car is being fixed after some old bloke went into the front of it - I was driving a Vectra.

Had to rush because the match was starting at 3pm and I left Plymouth at quarter to one. 150 miles in two hours seemed a tad optimistic but I did it :01:

125 in my '92 saab 900s 2.1L non turbo for about 10 seconds (just to see if the car really could max out the speedometer- it did) in the middle of South Dakota at 1:00 in the morning. The rest of the drive was at a lowly 105. Yes, Montanans know how to shorten distances. Damn I miss reasonable and Prudent. a speed limit that adjusts for road conditions and car capability

I almost forgot, 150+ in a cessna, so close to the ground that we might as well have been on the ground- >10ft

that is an avrage of 75- what is the speed limit there? I would expect to go that fast at least while driving on the interstate. I made it from Corvallis Mt to Bozeman Mt (250 miles) in an hour and a half, missed my mom's mark at 2 hours and 15 minutes

You need to take into account the UK motorway traffic would have been pretty heavy at that time on a saturday, and also the fact that he had to stop to pay to get into Wales :schnauz:

150 miles in 2 hours was pretty good going.

I've done that drive on several occasions, as I used to live in Plymouth but travelled home to Wales a lot - only a few times, out of maybe sixty or seventy trips, have I done it in under two hours.

The M5 is in perpetual flux involving traffic cones, tractors, combine harvesters and speed cameras. One has to be careful :smilie4:

left home at 4:00, pulled off the interstate at 6:45. slight side trip thru butte that took fifteen minutes, total time actually driving- 2.5 hours. I guess it is a little shorter the way I go, like 235 miles (mapquest tells you 249.6 if my memory serves me correctly, but it follows 93 to missoula and then I90 to Bozeman.) It may be an even better time due to the fact that the way I go is twisty, cant go as fast as on the interstate. I was going 110 a good portion of the time in the flats (good thing there was no cops out) can't testify for what my mom said for her time, I wasn't born yet, they were also living a little closer at the time, but I still think it was faster than me. I guess there is a reason that her cars always catch a nickname with the word bullet in it- silver bullet, speeding bullet, ect. well gotta go, driving home now, probably take 4-5 hours, my truck isn't as fast as my car was. (tops out at 95, don't like to push 85, plus I gotta stop more.)

That's quite the truck that'll average in excess of 160 mph.

Er- I said 2.5 hours- 4:00 to 6:45 with a fifteen minute break- total time on the road- 2.5 hours. that is an average of 100mph. of course the first 150 miles were not on the interstate and there where some parts that are twisted as fuck, plus passes and such. most of the Flat stuff was at 110.
