Hey Guys,

i'm upgrading my RAM soon, I wonder if anyone can tell me what I should look for i.e brands + best bang for my buck.

I want 2 x 1GB sticks. Looking at OCZ or Mushkin.

Try Patriot. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220040)
Big bang (and tight timings) for the price.

if you can afford it, ocz platinum or gold pc4000 , timings are 3-4-4-8.

Those are 4000 sticks tho', I haven't been following that sort of thing too closely lately, but I think it might be ok, with that sort of speed.

Had they been slower, like 3200 sticks, it'd been pitiful. Even KVR pc3200 sticks run at 3-3-3-8.

I've run those Patriot's at 2,3,2,5 (1T) one to one at HTT of 240...essentially DDR 480 speeds.
They would go much higher I believe, it's the memory controller on my Winnie that craps out.
I'm idly casting about for a used Opteron to try out...

You can lower it from pc4000 to pc3200 in most motherboard BIOS, thus allowing you to lower the timings to maybe 2-2-2-5. This will allow you to oc your cpu plentiful and mainting a good a speed
