How practical would it be to attempt to build a laptop?
I mean, would the price of the individual parts still be more expensive than buying a low budget premade one?

You'll end up paying more for the parts...it's harder to get newer parts...and that's without software/warrantees.

sometimes it's cheaper, sometimes it't more. lookimg to get a notebook soon, and for what I am building, a white book is about 3/4 the cost of a pre made one. I am pretty sure for budget notebooks, a prebuilt is going to be the way to go. the chassis is like $500-1200 depending on specs, then add a proccesor, ram, wireless card, dvd player and see where that gets you.

Thanks, I figured as much. I'm just getting tired of hauling all my stuff to friends house's for LAN parties and game nights...

Besides the cost of the parts. The installation has to be almost perfect because of the close tolerances space wise.
