Okay, I hate my X800GTO because it can't even run F.E.A.R or Quake 4 without lag with AA and AF on.

I found a buyer for it, and now I'm gett a new and better vid card.

So I'm deciding on a 7800GT, 7800GTX or 1800XT.

All three cards are priced in the same range but I want the best bang for the buck. For eg, I know 7800GTX outperforms the 7800GT, but it might not be worth it if it's like 50% more expensive.

Also, is Crossfire or SLI an option for me?

Or should I just wait for DX 10 and get a godly card then?

I have around $500 to work with. Lower that to $400 preferably and $600 is my max.

dunno, is it?
it depends on your mobo
it needs to have (2) PCI-E x16 slots to start with.....
it will have to be an nVidia nForce4 SLI flavor for SLI
it has to have the RD480/580 chipset for Crossfire I believe,
although I could be wrong on that one

I've got a 7800 GT and it's amazing.
Runs F.E.A.R perfectly fine.

lol the X800GTO sux, but it's still better than a 128meg 6600GT that's true. I'm selling it for $150 CAD, $50 bucks off the price I got it for. I don't think I'll sell it to you tho, not because I've anything against you but since you're in the US, it's gonna cost you a leg to ship the card there.:P

Okay, I decided on a 7800GT which is fair cheap IMO:

MSI nVidia GeForce 7800GT NX7800GT-VT2D256E SLI Ready 256MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/VIVO+HDTV PCI Express Video Card
$389.99

It probably won't catch up with a X1800XT, but it's well worth $390 bucks which is like $100-150 cheaper than a X1800XT.

Finally, a Nvidia card for a change...or should I go with it?

EDIT: $389.99 is CAD, so in USD it would be around $330.
