it has no boundaries
'least not on two sides of the screen
bottom and right sides of the screen don't stop the cursor

think this happened right after I was demonstrating to someone the shittiness of 1024x768 resolution

I bumped it up to 1280x1024, just to show how much more could be fit on the screen,
(cirtical for AutoCAD, Frontpage, etc.)
then reverted it back
(I have an old ass Compaq 17 in monitor, had to revert it back)

now my cursor has gone wild :O :P

Hmm normally it goes to the right if you have a second display enabled...
Go to your display manager and see if more than 1 display is turned on.
I'm not sure why it would go down though, i've never seen that before.

Also could just try restarting if it's not a second display.

nope, no second display
even went into the nView Desktop manager whatchamacallit
and disabled the option for a second display

did the reboot deal too
gimme some credit now, ross :P

I even....get this....tried going down to 800x600 and then back up to 1024x768
just outta curiosity, and of course it did no good

reinstalled the video drivers, nope, didn't help

thats normal isnt it.

Hell, I don't know.....is it?
I thought that it was supposed to be limited to the visual screen.
Or did it always do that...

Now that I think about it, I don't know if I ever really paid attention to it before.

Is the window you're typing in maximised?
The window may not be maximised but set to a size larger than your display. If this is the case, switch to the larger resolution again, open the app, resize the window somewhere in the top left area of the screen, close the app, change resolution back and re-open the app.

Sorry to bump my own problem into this thread... But for my Mouse.. Sometimes if I leave it alone it will slowly trail on its own to the left/right... I am not really sure if this is the same problem...

And just to add yeah tried plugging in another mouse/rebooting. So I just curious on that.

is it an optical mouse?
I have 2 Logitech opticals and they both do that from time to time
don't think my old track ball mouse did that.....

oh BTW....my cursor going off the screen issue....guess it's normal
does it on my server, does it on my workstation at the office....
guess I just never paid any attention to it before :P

Did you mean the cursor is just hidden at the very edge or tht it literally keeps going to the right/bottom forever?

It always gets hidden on irght and bottom side, doesn't keep scrolling though unless there's another display.

If its one of those optical mouse (lazor thingies) then its normal cause the mouse is just picking up some dent in the surface. If its a ball mouse, just clean the inside with a cloth and you should be okay. ;)

ooo yeah it is a cheap Logitech Optical Mouse, so I guess that would make sense since both of mine do that from time to time.
