Google "Grisoft AVG Free" , this is their freeware version of the anti-virus program. I have been using it for several years now with few if any problems. It can find viruses and trojans inside compressed files but can't delete them, so I have to use its information to find and delete them my self. I use a zip program called Zip Central (free) which allows me to view inside a zip and delete files without actually extracting the whole thing. It also allows you to drag and drop only the files you want from the zip file which is nice if you don't want a bunch of nfo, id diz, and url files on your computer. You can always view the nfo for any useful information from within the app, as well, so you can copy and paste information you want to save to note pad.

Isn't this just another evaluation version, he's looking for something free not free for 30 days.

are you talking about the norton? because if you are, that is what I have installed, and it doesn't have a counter telling me that I have thirty days left or something.

You can remove all the other stuff and d/l only Norton av SE but it's only 6 months of updates.

http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/

top link on the right under "google tools"
it has a firefox install, google toolbar for Firefox and internet explorer, adaware, Norton antivirus, google desktop, google earth, adobe reader 7, google talk, picasa and a bunch of other stuff. one install, and you decide what does and does not get installed. good way of puting those kind of programs on quickly after reloading.

I'm quite sure that NOD32 works with x64 also.

Look at the download page here: http://www.nod32.com/download/trial.htm
