View Full Version : Private Trackers: Reviews and Opinions

There seems to be alot of people asking which private trackers are good and what they have that makes them so good.

Why are private trackers popular....> http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=111507

In this thread i will review a few of the PTs that i visit regularly and hopefully others will add there opinions and reviews of these and others. Please don't put what you don't like, simply list why you like it and what kind of torrents its good for..

Hopefully this will serve as a good guide for people new to this forum or to private trackers in general... and also maybe annoy the hell out of people if they like the sound of a site but can't get an invite!

Please no invite posts in this thread!

Ok so here goes...

Scene Torrents: ScT

Max Users: 10,000
Registered Users: 9556 (226 unconfirmed)

Registration: Invite only

ScT is a very good private tracker with a smaller user base than many others, it has extremely fast pre-times and is good for new scene releases like, films, games, apps, music, games and XXX. The uploaders have very fast upload speeds and so do many of the users as well, which can sometimes lead to users with mediocre upload speeds to have to work hard to keep a good ratio. This, however, does mean that you get the most recent releases in your hands very quickly and because they are scene releases they are normally very good quality. This is not a speciality tracker so you won't find rare stuff here but sometimes and old film might pop up if has been re-ripped.

Probably my most used PT because of speed of uploaders and pre-times.

BitMe

Max Users: 30000
Registered Users: 20,091

Registration: Normal/Invite

BitMe is an e-learning only tracker, i recently had the privaledge of signing up not through invite just open registration :O This site is amazing if you are interested in Audio Learning, Art, College Lectures, Documentaries, e-Books, Languages, Magic, Medical, Stock Photography and many other terms most of which i don't understand like 3D Buzz and AppDev. My personal favorite is that they have alot of martial arts and health training videos and e-books. I haven't been signed up for long so i cannot really comment on the lastability of it but it has proved to be a great find. At first your ratio is hard to keep up because they have a delay system for lower ratio users, the solution is uploading your self which you don't have to be authorised to do it just has to be something they accept. In terms of speed it is not the best but because the files are worth waiting for it doesn't really matter.

Torrentit: TiT (RiP)

Is no more :( Maybe it will come back but looks doubtful.

Demoniod

Max Users: ?
Registered Users: 665468

Registration: Normal/Invite/Guests Allowed

A pretty large site with a wide variety of torrents including Anime, E-/Audio Books, Comics, Games, Apps, Movies, Music, Tv and many others. There is no Pr0n on demoniod so don't go looking here for your fix.. As it is a large site you get a wide variety of torrents available, however, it does not seem to have scene releases (although they may be there just renamed). Keeping a good ratio on this site is not to difficult as long as you are not a hit'n'runner, the stats take 24hrs to update and sometimes there are mistakes, but thats not to much of a big deal. Invites are pretty easy to get so just ask around and i'm sure someone can help you :) The forums are pretty active and useful interms of guides and general info. Overall a good site for general bittorrent use and the dowloading speeds are always quite resonable, but as anyone can upload they can be slower depending on uploaders bandwidth limit.

Please add to this thread as it will be useful for people to get an idea of what is available at a PT before endlessly hitting the refresh button on a signup page or trying to get an invite from anywhere or anyone :P

p.s i have no invites for these sites so don't PM in hope.... request it in the invites section here http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f90-.html

Also if you want to know how to keep a good ratio look here..>http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=105730&page=2

Torrent Leech

A relatively large user base, not sure of exact figures.

Registrations: Signup & invite.

This is another site that focuses mainly on scenereleases, however they also do occasionally have non-scene releases of dvds e.g they are releasing the 250 imdb movies in dvd format - which i think is very cool. Again you have Films, apps, games, music, xxx, e.t.c. I like this site because there are always leechers so it is not to difficult to maintain at least a 1:1 ratio and the downloads speeds are always pretty fast. In terms of scene releases they are not as fast as sites like ScT but they still get there ;)

I love torrentit, I have not used the other 2 you've listed. However, I always get great speeds on TiT in the 500kb's and the community is very good.

Torrentit has a wide array of XXX, Movies, apps. It's a general type of tracker.

a couple of other good private sites are torrent leech, torrentbytes, oink, and torrent-damage.

Why are they good? What kind of files do you get there? etc...

I would review them all but i don't have access to those ones :(

private torrents usually get a lot more speeds with quality uploaders with very impressive lines, so the delivery time to more people is a lot less with private servers, u arent allowed to hit and run because you have to maintain a certain ratio (the amount of download=amount of upload).

most private servers have a 0day pre-time which means your the first ones to get it :> some private servers only host torrents on their tracker up to a specific amount of days, then it gets deleted.

so some private torrents won't have 1 or 2 year old stuff whereas public ones might. Other privaet servers also have a request system, where you can request old stuff, but usually the 0day pre-time servers dont.

heres a few trackers im personally on, and can speak from experience:

www.torrentbytes.net (no request system - torrents stay only for 21 days)
-quality tracker
-very private, no invite system
-very fast speeds
-active admins and support
-variety of torrents (PS2,xBOX games, dvd-r,xvids,XXX,music...etc)
-0day release tracker

www.torrentit.com (request system)
-request system
-lots of old AND new stuff

www.torrentleech.org
-quality releases (VERY FAST PRETIMES)
-speeds are decent too
-a lot more variety to choose from

(*all these trackers below and above have something in common, they all require/stronly advise you to maintain a certain ratio, 1)
---
some other ones are

scenetorrents
supertorrents
bitme.org
bitmetv.org

try to look for some quality ones, some sites have a really tight sign up, such as torrentbytes, sometimes its luck :> and some generous people might pop you a few invites too.

hope this helped

i'm pretty happy with demonoid. huge selection and great community. i ended up not even using torrentit, the downloads were super fast, but the content was few and not really great.

I liked tbkresources.org alot... using past tense because it appears to be gone at least for while (maybe because of the recent legal scare)

I liked it because good torrents last a long time and in most cases gaining back ratio is not a problem. Not always the best speeds in the world, but I think ratio management is more important than DL speed anyway. The balance of how things tend to work out on TBK with ratio and number of seeders and leechers is good; torrents don't have a limited life span so people don't obsess over making sure they get lots of ratio "right away" from a torrent.

hopefully it returns.

filelist hands down the best, fast downloads and almost never down

Torrentleech.org in my opinion is the #1 torrent site. Super fast downloads. I have 30 mb/s down and 5 mb/s up for internet speed. When I download from torrentleech.org I connect at a full 2 "MB/s" not "mb/s". The quality of the files are as best as the can be. You can get ps2, psp, xbox, xbox360, pc, gamecube games. Full dvd-r, svcd, vcd, xvid, movies. PC and PDA appz. TV episodes or box collection movies. Old and new stuff. More new but still alot of old. This is just my opinion.

torrentbytes.net , the most elite torrent site of them all. But nowhere near as good as elitetorrents.org.... :(

i really miss that site. We will never forget you elitetorrent.org .

missy_wink
03-22-2006, 02:18 AM
why would you miss elitetorrents but fail to mention torrentbits which was the greatest and the predecessor to tb2 aka torrentbytes.

anyways sct is a faster site for the most part than anything mentioned so far as far as new scene releases go.

Private site?whats that?
There are public sites where anyone can go and use the torrents there.

For private sites you need to be a member to get on and use the torrents. These are limited to the number of people who can join. Quite often you need an invite from someone who is a member before you can join.

They are usually faster, there is little leeching and they give you a bit more security. Most people try to keep their ratio up so that they dont get banned.

I particularly like oink.me.uk

The vast majority of torrents are well-seeded. oink specializes in music, but one can also find apps, ebooks, and other music related crud (such as reason instruments, etc). Some of my fastest download speeds have been obtained at this site, even with only a handful of seeders. Furthermore, music quality is almost always excellent. oink has some pretty strict rules in regards to uploading music.

The only real drawback comes from this site's main strength: There are almost always several seeders and no leechers. It's very difficult to keep your ratio up because everyone is attempting to do the same. The only reasonable way to keep one's ratio over 1 is by uploading (upload privileges are available from the start).

NEVERTHELESS, this site has proved to be more of an asset than a burden.

TL and TB is by far the fastest sites out there. Bitsoup and TiT (RIP) are not too shabby either for their unique selections. x264.us has really HQ MP4movies that blew my mind but good luck maintaining a good ratio with leechers almost non existent.

I just recently registered to become a member here at these forums. And so far I like what I see. Specially this topic about private trackers. Now I could care less about trackers for movies or music. What I'd really like to get my hands on is some decent e-learning torrents. And I saw from the original post that biteme.org is one of the best sites for that.

A good private tracker I use all the time is http://themixingbowl.org great site for dance mixes. it specialises in live / radio mixes. IE: essential mix, 1extra ect...Great for hard to find drum and base which is what I'm into but it's got everything realy. I even found a live mix of a rave I went to in Perth Western Australia about 8 years ago so it's got some realy rare content. plus it's open signups :cool2:

ScT used to be the best when it came to 0-day stuff but not anymore. two of their top uploaders (N3cr0s & deathr0w) have been kicked off (deathr0w has over 14 TERABYTES of stuff uploaded!) which has resulted in very few uploads everyday (we're talking about probably 8-10 new torrents everyday... and more than half is pr0n).

right now, since ScT has dropped, i'm saying TB or TL is the best when it comes to 0-day stuff.

^revolutiontt is less known and has few peers, but scene releases are pretty damn fast to appear there, sometimes before TL. there is a ton of stuff uploaded every day, but torrents dont last too long though (at least not with fast speeds).

A little about myself before I comment: I use bt trackers to mainly download movies, trance music, and the occasional TV show or program that I may need to use. I don't download games at all, so unfortunately I can't comment on that.

ScT: A good 0-day tracker with all the newest and most recent high quality movie releases. They always have 5 or so new porn DVD torrents uploaded every day. Their TV shows are up to date, but the site only features popular series such as My Name Is Earl, The Simpsons, The OC, Saved (just to name a few that I see as I'm posting this). They frequently upload various cracked software torrents (usually antivirus apps or other useful programs). The music that they upload is very random, and they come in large chunks when they do. It tends to be rips of CDs that are mixes of various artists. Basically if you're looking to download music from bittorrent you shouldn't be looking for it at ScT.

Maintaining a ratio of 1:1 is relatively easy on this site compared to other 0-day trackers as long as you have a decent connection. For the most popular and recently uploaded torrents (usually telesync or dvdrips of recent movies, or very popular TV series) you can usually expect anywhere from around 50 to 150 seeders at peak times (often more if its a very popular torrent) and members at ScT often have great upload speeds so if you're connectable you can expect to download at your max speed if you do decide to hop on these new torrents. For less popular torrents such as TV shows that aren't as popular, or music that isn't too mainstream, porn torrents, or 'no-name' programs, you usually get anywhere from around 5 to 50 seeders and you can expect download speeds to also be significantly slower.

TD: Another good 0-day tracker with almost the same releases as ScT, just usually a bit behind. They also occasionally upload DVD rips of oldies, but goodies such as The Godfather and et cetera. Although they do upload TV torrents likewise to ScT, they are not as frequent and reliable as ScT's.. yet they are also still high quality and enjoyable to watch. As for music, the same can be said about TD... don't try getting an invite to TD just to download music, you're better off at a place like OiNK.

In terms of seeders and speeds, popular torrents tend to have anywhere from 50 to 200 seeders and the less popular torrents usually have around 5-40 seeders. The people at TD also have nice upload speeds when it comes to the newest torrents. There are always more people leeching the torrent many hours after its been posted, making a positive ratio very easy to attain.

TranceTraffic: If you're not into trance, you might as well ignore this entire bit. But if you are, this site is absolutely essential if you're into this kinda music. In addition to trance, theres progressive, house, techno, hardstyle, drum 'n bass, hardcore, and sometimes even some music videos. However the most popular torrents usually are the trance, progressive, and house torrents. The most active torrents tend to be Armin van Buuren's weekly ASOT show along with Markus Schulz's weekly GDJB and you can expect max speeds whenever downloading these. Uploaders at this site are very dedicated and you can expect around 50 new releases per day with a good amount of seeders on almost all of them. Keeping a good ratio on this site isn't any harder than most sites however its alot easier if you automate the download of torrents with RSS feeds so that you can snatch the latest torrents without even being at the computer. But regardless of everything else... if you're into trance, you definitely have to check out this site.

--- If anyone needs info about these three trackers, just PM me :)
