Why do people upload music with that format?

ex: "1.-_tatu_-_All_the_thing_she_said.",

I like to have my music library well organized,
so every time I dld. an album like this, I have to correct it
( 1.- Tatu - All the things she said).
Cus I've heard of trackers that make you put the web site at the end
of each song title, but all those low dashes seem ridiculous.

i dunno. it is rather strange, i agree.

i use mp3tag to re-tag and re-name my mp3 cds. it werks slick and will connect to freedb and amazon.com so you get correct info.

Filenames and spaces don't really go well together (e.g. if you put that on a website the URL would be ... 1.-%20Tatu%20-%20All%20the%20things%20she%20said.mp3)

You won't find spaces in any scene releases.

Been a part of the "scene" long?

I've never been part of the "scene", I just download some of the releases.

Then you are getting renamed versions, a long way down the line. Almost every proper scene release uses the underscores. It is a hold over from the times you could not use spaces in file names.

Yah, that's pretty much exactly what I said when you decided to take me to task over it.

i don't think it's just a "hold over" from when spaces in file names were problematic ... scene releases still travel through a great number of boxes, and many are likely to be old *nix boxes chugging away since the late nineties.

Like what Skillian said.
I had 67Gb of mp3s that had to be tagged like that for my radio station.
For a good tagger,

Old hat, but i've been using that for over two years now.
That will take out, or put in what you want.
I would test it first with a few mp3s in a folder,
because you could mess up all ya tags.
it's good & fast.

Yeah, Tag & Rename is another good program to help with tagging, and it'll automatically swap out underscores for spaces if you tell it to.

Not freeware tho.

Yea, 'T&R' has been my Taging program for along time now,
but it wasn't 'till a week ago that I actually found first hand how useful and effective the
'amazon.com tag' tool is.
It gets all the tags for the album, including the cover, and sometimes even a shor comentary for the artist or the particular album.
