Those I pretty decent, if not the best in the market yet, but if you do wait, you will want the GeForce FX series  . Proudly presenting the GF FX 5200, and FX 5600 Ultra.

Yeah the FX5200Ultra sounds really tasty...128mb,DX9 and best of all, going for less than a hundred. But I am in two minds cause ATI 9500 or 9700(whatever they're called!) seem to knock most other cards out in benchmarks.

You can get the 9800 pro if you got the cash ,very expencive.
I suggest getting a msi ti4200 series w/128mb ddr great preformance and
even better deal

if you got 400$ lying around, you cant beat a Radeon 9800 pro. The 128meg version is the fastest card out right now... with a 256meg version to follow in a month or so. So if you have like 500$ lying around, wait for that one.

Budget wise... the 9600 radeon is top notch at the moment, as it is highly overclockable, and beats the radeon 9500, now discontinued, easily when overclocked.

Note, these ATI recommendations come from a hard core Nvidia user... ;) ;)

I have to agree with nahan here - don't buy the very top end card - you pay a lot more for very little increase in performance. If you're upgrading from a tnt2, fairly much any card in the $150 range will be a huge jump in performance. Spend wisely though - make sure you have an up to date motherboard. RAM is realtively inexpensive and more RAM always boosts the performance.

Likewie I wouldn;t bother getting the 3.06 P4 - get one around 2.5-2.8GHz - a lot cheaper and I'd be damned if you could notice the difference.

Back to Video cards - the ti4200 is a great card, as is the Radeon 9500. Go to tomshardware.com if you want some good info.

For top of the range go for Sapphire ATi Radeon 9800 Pro or nVidia GeForce FX 5800 Ultra. Or for the ultimate gaming experience go for the nVidia PNY Quadro FX 2000 or ATi FireGL. All have 128 MB of DDR RAM but the Quadro has 128 MB of DDR2 RAM. Although, I saw a Radeon 9800 with 256 of DDR RAM :o

the 9500 is actually being discontinued... so if you want one, get it now... as the 9600 is replacing it... no more are being made, and when dealers sell out of their stock, thats it...

like i sad... the 9600 can easilly be overclocked to speeds that blow the doors of the 9500, wonderfull perfomer that it is...

Hard ocp... radeon reviews here (http://www.hardocp.com)

just scroll down, on the left is the 9600 review, and overclocking news...

the ti4200, while a great card... i run one, isnt the best budget card for this years games... ie splinter cell... upcomming hl2... doom3... cuz you will want a full directx 9 compatible card...

But above all make sure that your mother board is 8x compatible then try to get a 8x compatible 3d card ,just to make sure you investment lasts that muck longer.
And also try for at least 128mb ddr or wait for 256mb as the others have suggested.

And try to stay away from the geforce fx cards they have gotten some bad test results ,as far as i have seen plus they are said to be quite noisy and block the other agp or pci ports on your mother boards.
GOOD LUCK

If you have the money no doubt get the ati radeon 9700 pro. It is the best period. The FX are to expensive and the best one which is the Geforce FX 4800 Ultra is just a tad crappier, but it is large and bulky and loud. The radeon 9700 pro is the best if you have the money. Just make sure your mobo supports agp 8x or you wont get its full power.

The radeon 9800 are damn waste. You can overclock your 9700 better than 9800 so it is not worth it. Also the price difference is huge. It is not worth your money.

Also you can do the same with a 9500 and overclock that to a 9700 pro. There is bountiful guides on how to do it on the internet too.

SO STFU you have no idea what your talking about.

if money is no object though, the 9800 is surely better?
if you can oc the 9700 pro to past the 9800 pro, what can you oc the 9800 pro to??
and what is the price difference?
in britain i think it's only about £50 or so, which isn't a lot for the improvement

Guys I'm seriously considering a new card but,I just checked the ATI Radeon prices here in England...
I think only the 9000Pro is within my budget...maybe I just wait!

Excuse me? Why dont you shut the fuck up? No reason to be rude... get your hardware facts straight. And you are behind on your hardware, read up anywhere, look at Hardocp (http://www.hardocp.com) for review on the 9800, or toms hardware, i didnt pull the numbers out of my ass...

The radeon pro is faster, plain and simple, so what you if can overclock the 9700, u can overclock the 9800 even faster...

who are you to say what is worth "his" money? Maybe he had a shit load of cash to spend, or was a hardcore gamer, and wanted the fastest money could buy? I just stated the facts... hes smart enough to conclude himself what is worth the money or not.

Most people are smart enough to take advice and opinion, from different sources, before parting with hard-earnedcash.To the-ninja69, Schmiggy_JK23, is totally right...your rudeness is unnecessary, and totally irrelevant. And just annoys anyone seeking hard facts on expensive hardware. Don't give out attitude, we've got our own! thanks ;)
