The ones that seem more popular are Newsgroups BitTorrent and eD2k network. There are dedicated sections for these here on the site. Take a read through and see what appeals to you. Make sure to read the pinned topics while your at it and enjoy the site...

..well it would opennap...the roots. If you are intested in films...then look at usenet...a friend of mine, with a 20000/1024, connection ( ADSL2) told me he download at nearly maximum speed..and had 4 DVD's within 5 hours...

Bittorrent will give u speed for newer stuff.
ed2k will give u reliability, amazing searching results, moderate speeds, and i refuse to believe that ed2k cant give u what u want!
Usenet/newsgroups arent free but they give u excellent speed on any downloads for newer stuff.

There is no "best" p2p program.. Different networks have their own pros and cons...

LIke said above, newsgroups, Bit Torrent and the eDonkey network seem to be the most popular..

Bit Torrent is good for new files. Large files too as you get nice speeds. I recommend the uTorrent ("http://www.utorrent.com) program for that.

eDonkey networks is another nice network. Lots of files. I recommend the eMule Morph ("http://emulemorph.sf.net) program for that network.

Ares is another small nice network. Great for music. http://aresgalaxy.sf.net

You forgot to mention that on the eD2k network popular downloads tend to take very very long to start.

Heheh true, and just curious for Music, not albums, (Such as single hits/songs) is it preferred to use Ares or Limewire Pro?

Opennap is great for singles, and more. Not only that, as you are on private servers, the chances of downloading fake files are minimised, as such users will be rapidly banned, and their names and IP addresses circulated to other opennap networks... All you have to do is pm the server owner, with the user's name. He or she will investigate, and remove such people,if found to be in possesion...within minutes of a such a complaint. Speeds can be very fast too, if you use a multi sourcing client, as Winlop...

DC++ hands down is THE best. I am messing with Grabit and the NZBs. So far I get nothing but txt files with 0kbs. Not sure what's going on there. I'll probably go back to DC++,much more reliable and I've always found what I need.

This indicates you are using a newsroup with poor retention so the files you are trying to get are not on your newsgroups server

None of them are the "best", because it varies with how you define best...

Morpheus, KaZaA, LimeWire etc. are the easiest IMO, just connect and download easily, though these are not always best to get new releases and fast download speed. And many of these types have ad-ware/spy-ware.

eMule/eDonkey are quite easy too, you have to connect to servers and such, but ed2k links make it easy to use, though the speeds I myself get there are really bad.

Then we have BitTorrent, both easy and most of the time pretty fast.

My favorite, DC++, harder to use than the others IMO, though with access to private hubs you get the new stuff and good speeds :D

eD2k is very good for ebooks, and it has more files than bittorrents, but for new and big stuffs, bittorrent gives better speed

Really depends on what you need, for 0-day things, and lots of rare stuff old and new Torrents. More specifically private torrent sites, which are super fast in speed and releases. Same goes for newsgroups, but newsgroups might be harder to work with if your ISP limits how many GB u can download. IRC is another alternative to getting some things, it is not as 0-day as private torrents though. If you want to get ULTRA rare things, check out Emule/Edonkey. You can even find some things in other languages in there, like movies from other countries. Great for things like that but SUPER SUPER slow.

Ditto. But it never hurts to search for better ones. I think I'll download usenet and see how that works. Seems like it's highly recommended.

I've tried all of them and my favorite is Shareaza, but Limewire, Ares and eMule also have their good points. For BitTorrent, nothing even compaires to uTorrent.

If you've got access to Newsgroups then they cannot be beaten. My previous ISP had an excellent free server. Otherwise a good private torrent site for the latest releases or eMule for something a bit rarer (though you'll probably have to wait in a queue for hours!).

eMule Plus and BitTorrent.
Some things can't be found anywhere exception for eMule, but speed is slow most of time. BT is really fast p2p protocol, I preffer it.

The best P2P program is Limewire. Thats a fact. If you have a torrentleech account your buzzing. If you have an araditracker.com account and you download the stuff first you get good speeds.

LimeWire 4.12.3 PRO sucks+++ donkey ass. The best are sites with free full albums or even better it would be to modifiy a client of your choice. The best is yet to come.
Death to LimeWire.

I think there isn't "the best". It all depends on what you want.
So, emule+bt+usenet should do the trick :)

limpdickkid
08-07-2006, 08:59 AM
your first option needs to be Bittorrent, the best resource for almost anything nowadays. its grown quite a bit over the past few years. For stuff you cant find on BT try EMule.
