Just curious what gothic bands do you like and what are some that you suggest other people hear.
Thus far, my top 3 are:
Flowing tears
Night Wish
Evanescence
And a few more which i found on myspace, which i really do enjoy.

My youngest has got me listening to HIM a lot now. Went to see them play live at Shepherds Bush Empire and they were bloody good.
Nightwish wail a little too much for my liking & Marilyn Manson could do with a decent vocalist IMO, but I don't think My Chemical Romance are too bad... are they Gothic?
Errr...No.
None of those bands are Gothic.
Goth bands =
The Cure
Bauhaus
Fields Of The Nephilim
Sisters Of Mercy
Joy Division
Siouxsie And The Banshees
Cinema Strange
Christian Death
Bella Morte
London After Midnight
Voltaire
Clan Of Xymox
Darkwave (Electronic music with heavy traditional Goth influence)
Black Tape For A Blue Girl
Sopor Aeternus
Diary Of Dreams
LoveSpiralsDownwards
Faith And The Muse
Dead Can Dance
Theatre Of Tragedy
Cruxshadows
Goth Metal:
Katatonia
Tristania
Type O Negative
Cradle Of Filth
Tristitia
Anthemon
Fragile Hollow
Lacuna Coil
The Gathering
Lacrimas Profundere
HIM is alternative rock
Nightwish is power metal, although Tales From The Elven Path does have Gothic elements.
Marilyn Manson is industrial rock
My Chemical Romance is Emo crap.

Ya, I listen to HIM, and I know they're not gothic for sure....
Traditional Gothic music is DEAD. It's now evolved into EBM/Industrial/Power-Noize
Oh, and there's a Death-Rock revival.

agreed, although I never liked/listened to goth music, whatever of it does exist today is emo anyway, god i hate emo's...sorry just had to get that out of my system.
Oh, I hate Emo too, believe me. But don't confuse it with Goth. Emo has none of the sophistication or existational philosohpy that Goth is notable for.

katatonia is a goth band huh? i enjoy some of their stuff.
i'm not a real goth fan either, looks like vamp is the only one that can help ya out here.
Katatonia's Discouraged Ones album is one of the perfect examples of Goth Metal...They're my favourite band, by far.

marilyn manson is about as xtreme and scurry as korn is now. he's a piece of pop culture now just like any other celebrity.
Marilyn Manson is hype. The stories are crap.

Nice list,Vamp. I think many goth bands were influenced by Joy Divisions sound and album cover art. However, I wouldn't really consider Joy Division a goth band.
Peace bd
Yeah, Joy Division are more post-punk, but they are undoubtedbly the forefathers.
