Dell to buy computer firm Alienware

Dell has agreed to purchase gaming PC maker Alienware, in a rare acquisition designed to improve Alienware's supply chain and boost Dell's standing among PC enthusiasts.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Alienware will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the world's largest PC maker, said Nelson Gonzalez, chief executive officer of Alienware. Gonzalez will now report to Jim Schneider, Dell's chief financial officer, but the company will operate separately from Dell, he said.

This is a killer deal for Dell. They were drooling over Alienware's profit margins.

Mabye give Dell instant credibility with the high end gamers , can't remember Dell's high end gaming machine tho . Xtl or something to that effect but I'm sure that Voodoo is thinking "ahw shit "! :)

Dell are going totally for controlling the noob pc laptop world, their adds are everywhere weekly - ive never seen a technological company promote themselves as if they were as essential as food
as for layoffs do they care
they are smart mac vs dell? no way but maybe one day....

I know almost makes me want to reconsider Dell . :lol: Where my wife works the company will help the employees buy a computer [ Dell] on a payrole deduction plan , I might look at the options as money's tight . :(

fuck dell! i used to work there and they don't give 2 shits about their employees. they just did ANOTHER massive layoff and now going to get alienware. i hope not. alienware doesn't need dell. they don't. they are doing just fine without and for the future. dell is just scared they will take over. give it some time and they would imo. either way, this makes me mad. pftt.
