C'mon, fess up.

No need to be ashamed.

We all go through dry spells now and then.

So...

How long has it been since...

You last defragmented your hard drive?

You know it only makes sense. :naughty:

Does it have to be mine? I defragged one at work today.

To be honest, once in a blue moon.

That's the one in the computer. I rarely defrag the external data drives.

I used to have that and I can't remember turning it off.

EDIT - Just checked and it's not set. Wonder why I did that.

Don't know.

It's a good thing; it stops me obsessing.

There's a school of thought which would have us believe that defragging too often is counter productive. As it overworks the HDD and in particular the bearings, to little or no good end with regard to overall speed of access.

Clocker may be able to shed some light on this. I'm certainly not going into his wankpit (Hard-on World) to ask.

What's defragmenting an inuendo for? :naughty:

It's when you hack up your girlfriend/spouse with a kitchen knife, then put the pieces back together and bum her.

Don't honestly know where Raptor-man would come down on the question; I find my inclination to leave my PC on full-time makes that consideration seem silly.

The only HDD I've ever fried was a Western Digital 40G unit which I replaced under warranty.

The tech I got the RMA from cast aspersions of those who turn their PCs on and off all the time.

I leapt to what I assumed was the proper conclusion, and have been leaving mine on for the last 4 years.
