I hate when people say a movie sucks based on it's box-office showing.

It should be whether you liked the movie or not.

Waterworld was a decent movie. However, jumping on the "that movie sucked" bandwagon 'cause it went way over budget is idiotic.

Hell I liked The Postman too.

I do however think that Kevin Costner and Keanu Reeves suck ass as actors.

They lack facial expressions or something. Maybe it's that their eyebrows don't move. I can't put my finger on it.

I really liked WaterWorld, enough to actually pay for it! Battlefield Earth too!

Maybe I'm just a sucker for Sci-Fi flicks... Yep that's prolly it.

the page you linked to is actually called the top 10 movies that went wrong, not the top 10 movies that were pish and fucking shit as your thread title suggests.

All except waterworld. The concept in that movie was pretty good atleast.

They forgot:
Baby Geniuses
Open Water
The Incredible Storm
Starship Troopers

Starship Troopers was quite good. I also liked Roughnecks...alot.

Now Starship Troopers 2 was a fucking TV episode. I liked it aiight but not as a feature film.

We may as well not have sections. This belongs in Movieworld ffs.

Maybe I'll start a hardware topic.

Glitter (2001): Mariah Carey's vanity film
A semi-autobiographical movie about Mariah Carey. Critics universally panned it for seeming to be a vanity film intended only to enhance Carey's singing career. Carey had pushed for the project as early as 1997, but it finally came out on 2001.

The reviews "Glitter" received were devastating and the movie did very poorly in theaters. In most countries it wasn't even released. In the USA it premiered only in 1,196 theaters and was the 11th highest-grossing movie over the weekend with $5M. One reviewer said "Only Mariah Carey could mess up a film about Mariah Carey."

It was originally scheduled to open over Labor Day weekend, but the film was pushed back three weeks when Mariah checked into a hospital for emotional stress. The accompanying soundtrack, Glitter, became Carey's worst showing on the charts, and the lowest selling of her career to date. The record label Virgin/EMI later ended their record deal with Carey, giving her a $28 million pay-off.

Although the film has been generally panned, it has made a cultural impact and reached infamous levels of notoriety. New slang has been invented with a negative connotation of "pulling a Glitter" to indicate performing horribly.
"Pulling a Glitter" would mean something quite different over here.

Some bad films there btw, but the films shown on MST3k far surpass those in badness. Stuff like Hobgoblins, Manos and Time Chasers show you how horrible a movie can really be.

I would say most films on that list are "mainstream" films that sucked. Whereas there are a whole barrel-load of 'B' movies and 'C' movies that are much worse and possibly dangerous to your health to watch.

I'm still looking for a copy of Fungicide (http://www.troubledmoonfilms.com/fungicide/fungicide.html).
