I didn't complete high school, although not by choice. My final year I had to have surgery and missed three months of school, (although I did complete all my lessons at home, and went to school to write tests in the nurse's office) so the board of education refused to give me my credits based on my attendance. It was rather ridiculous given that my grades were in the high 90s, and I appealed it, but what can you do. I didn't go back the following year as by then I was pregnant with my son and refused to re-do courses I felt I'd already completed.

I did go to college, after my son was born. Part time night classes while working full time. I don't recommend that. I plan to go to university and get a degree in bio-chemistry at some point, when finances allow for it.

I support that 100% and I wish you good luck :)

To me, education is the one thing in life not to be fucked with :no2:

I've got a BA Hons in Accountancy and Finance and I'm a chartered accountant.

I'm also qualified thro' affiliation with two other accountancy bodies.

I have more letters after my name than in my name. Mind, I got those qualifications by book-learning - so I guess they don't matter :dabs:

I've a BSc in Biology and a PGdip in Ocean Science. This would have been an MSc but I decided I didn't like the subject enough to submit a dissertation.

hmmm...kinda two options. I dropped out of high school senior year, got off the drugs later, realised it was a stupid mistake, went to community college for a year, transfered to University of Texas for 3.5 years until I graduated. :)

Some Politician made a really cutting comment the other day. Something like, "We need our youngsters going to Uni / College and studying proper stuff. There's too much fannying about with fucking Media Studies going on." I paraphrase.

I thought it rather harsh at the time.

I must confess to not knowing what Media Studies entails (although for some strange reason I have a vision of Janet Street Porter  )

Politicians are fond of whipping boys (well Harvey Procter was). I would suggest they spend less time worrying about teens drinking cheap beer at the student bar and discussing French art movies (if that is what they do) and more over the 15 year olds getting wellied on alchcopops in the local park.
