What software to open files?

Hi only been using bittorrent for a couple of days and most things open via vlc player, now i'm having problems with this file.

You need winrar to open them.;)

Like dodgy said you need winrar probably to extract the files to play it.

WinRAR is merely an archival tool. Click on any of the archives (.rar, .r00, .r01, etc), click on extract, select the folder to extract to, then click OK and it extracts the file(s) from within the archive(s). Almost all releases come down in RAR format these days (anything from the "scene" at least).
