I read a whole 500 page book on the shapes on Mars. Written by a (not mental!) Egyptologist called Graham Hancock.

The book finished with the conclusion that the weird stuff is probably naturally occuring but those pesky yanks should have investigated it properly with that probe (forgotten what it's called) when it was taking the pictures.

Tbh, I think he only got interested in space stuff because the Mars face looks a bit like a Pharaoh, but he's not really very good at it. He's got a friend called Robert Bauvall (sp?) who co-authors and does most of the mathematical/physics stuff but they both come off sounding a bit like harbingers of doom.

They have some decent theories about Egyptians and their relationship with celestial bodies and explanations of why the Giza Pyramids are positioned thusly - but since they've branched out into astro-physics, they pretty much suck bawls.
