I grew up with them, too, but you can only do so much with no musical ability so their demise was perfect for them, really. Burning out is better than fading away, most times.
I think I prefer Green Day, Blink 182 (EOTS & TOYPAJ era), Metallica, HIM & Foo Fighters over The Pistols nowadays, though.

Sex Pistols were cool those days, now it's just nostalgic....
And i hate to agree but it sounds dated.

i don't like the so called modern day 'punk bands' blink green day ... no way. Then i rather play the old punk --> Iggy Pop, Stranglers and Sex Pistols kinda stuff.

I don't think of Green Day as punks, certainly many of their tracks are well crafted; the melody in Macy's Day Parade certainly has a melancholic feel to me... I just wish I knew what he was bloody singing about most of the time.
