Does anyone know how to un-install Windows Media Player 9 Series? I'm running Windows XP Professional and have tryed the two sections of the Un-install Menu without finding anything so do I have to do it manually or is their another way? I'm just sick of it's bad playback quality and would rather use another program to watch my video files.

have a look in the add/remove programs.

there should be an option for add/remove windows programs.

I think it is in there but i cant say for sure it crashes my pc everytime i do it.

way to comply with that court order m$.

Yeah I knew that you could do it with SP1 but I haven't got SP1 is their anyway to do it without SP1? Because I didn't exactly buy my Win XP and I have heard people have had trouble installing SP1 when they had a downloaded version.

installing sp1 is easy.

just stick with the new wmp9 and use another video player for everything. :D

either that or you could try and find version 8 on the corporate site if it is still about and install that over the top.

but i have a feeling the corporate site is long gone.

Yeah, are you just tired of of automatically using WMP 9, instead of one of your players?

Because the sp Prog fixes that.

I feel a little paranoid asking this question but media player will automatically pop up on my screen without me having done anything to cause this to happen?

Is there any explanation for this?

yea, wmp9 is a major resource hog... may you should search google for a uninstaller progie someone made, or just go in the hard way and take out all it's files and resources(carefull that way though)

Everything I have read on removing media player 9 advises using system restore to a point before instalation. Microsoft says installing mp9 is like an operating system upgrade. They put it in so you can't rip it out.

Before you install WMP9, you are told it cannot be removed (as in, there is no removal tool included with it and/or distributed by Microsoft).
