utorrent is by far superior, especially for users that don't use many plugins.
It is way less of a resource hog than azureus.

I like them both it really does depend on what you are using them for.
uTorrent is a lot lighter but azures does have a lot of useful features.
I always start to wonder when I hear this sort of statement. Being fairly new to bittorrent...what else would I use a torrent client for other than downloading torrents and seeding torrents?
uTorrent seems to do both of these well, and has a small footprint. Is there something else I can do in the torrent world that Azureus affords me and uTorrent does not?

i've been using azureus for year and a half.. then tried uTorrent, and no color

switched from azureus to utorrent a few months ago, and never looked back since. It's so amazing to have a program which as much functionality as i need as utorrent in such a small package. add to the fact that it doesn't use that much resource space as well is a welcome bonus.

I once used azureus, till i found out how much resources it ate

Then i switched to bitcommet till it got banned for the DHT leak problem.

finally i switched to uTorrent and i am very pleased - great functionality, low resource consumption, no *known* security leaks on public sites.

So i would have to say uTorrent!

From my experience, uTorrent is much faster at startup and overall performance compared to Azureus. uTorrent doesn't require you to install JRE, and you don't even have to install uTorrent itself (just run the single file, and that's it). uTorrent also takes up a lot less memory than Azureus.

I know these things from experience because I just recently switched from Azureus to uTorrent, and I'm so much happier because of it.

I switched from bitcomet to utorrent, but am having a hard time opening up my torrent sits. What was nice about bitcomet was you could open up 3-4 torrent sites through there site and not have 4 web pages open. Does anyone know if utorrent will do this?

think you are talking about bitcomet....everyone loves utorrent because its simple to configure and very light on the resources.the beta version has a web ui interface for those who want to check up on there torrents from work....:)

i would have prefered azureus to utorrent but it is the biggest resouorce hog i have ever seen in a torrent client... maby because i havent configured it right...

(It does most of what Azureus can do with a far less resource cost; it's a bargain basement item that is worth its price.)

i think azureus is the best. i don't have any resource problems with it on my system. The older ones are banned because i think when they update with a new version they do so to fix bugs in the previous version

Azureus is for those who like to micro-manage. uTorrent is for those who like clean, reliable, safe and tidy downloads. Using Azureus makes me feel like I've lost half my clean laundry on the way back to my room. I have to go back when I'm done and clean up/collect all the stuff that got left behind or screwed up. You know how it is, like when you drop your socks and boxers that were sitting atop the pile...

uttorent for me, never used azureuz. utorrent does the job good enough for me.

I've used Azureus for a long time. If ur system can handle the memory drain, I think its an excellent program.

Azureus makes faster connections than utorrent, so your download speed increases to optimum faster.. but in the end they are both about the same speed.

I like utorrent for its ease of use and small resource usage, but love azureus' advanced features giving me full control of what my BT client is doing.

Full control? Really? The one thing I miss about uTorrent is the management of upload bandwidth. That way, I could give higher priority to the torrents I want as opposed to Azureus determining via a set of rules which torrent gets the higher seeding rank over the other. The fact that I've tried even asking the author to consider such functionality in any future release of Azureus fell on deaf ears as he insisted on sticking to the features in Options and switching certain ones on/off accordingly. At no point did any of the suggestions allude to manually setting the seeding rank of each torrent on an individual basis as simply as uTorrent handles it.

Reality is, had it not been for the fact that uTorrent kills the rest of my internet functionality beyond torrents, I would've stuck with it instead of Azureus with its flawed seed ranking.

Deluge!

It doesn't have the most features and it's a little bit buggy, but it's quickly developing, has a great RSS plugin and is very fast. If development is continued with this speed I bet Deluge will be the Nr. 1 client in 2009.

utorrent doesn't have and won't get real Regex RSS support, so it's useless for me. Would be my nr. 1 choise for good speed, small size and nice features.

Azureus is Java-shit with connection problems. I tried to upload some file with it and only 1 of 3 peers could connect. The rest had problems caused by java (I googled the error message). I switched to Deluge and all 3 peers could connect within second.

It's not about the best I think, both are for different users and kind of use.
