During the usual public appearance that would accompany a state visit from a foreign leader president Bush was making his public "comments addressing china"

Among Bush's words:--

"China has become successful because the Chinese people are experience the freedom to buy, and to sell, and to produce -- and China can grow even more successful by allowing the Chinese people the freedom to assemble, to speak freely, and to worship."

one of the people assembled on the White House south lawn actually tried to speak freely right here in America about both the lack of free speech and religious freedom in China.

That free-speaking woman was hauled off and arrested :slap:

whitehouse transcpcript with video (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/04/20060420.html#)

This is not a dig at Bush, China or even the security.

Security concerns aside, what were the chances of those words and that incident co-inciding

Saw that.

I wonder, given a quicker mind and grasp of the potential synergy, whether Bush might have admonished security to leave her alone.

Probably not, huh?

Freedom of speech may be an interesting idea and one to be jealously guarded.

However try to do it when it will annoy the President and the reality may not quite live up to the publicity. They'll be arresting women for wearing t-shirts next.

Yes, we must admit that possibility. ;)

I wonder who's gonna replace Scott McClellan?

The lad was seriously out-of-his-depth.

Some interesting names being bandied about...
